The House of Caiaphas

On the night that Jesus was arrested, he was taken to the House of Caiaphas, the former High Priest in Jerusalem.

There he was interrogated, tried, and found guilty of blasphemy. He would be taken on the following morning to the Roman Governor, Pontius Pilate, where his captors would demand the application of the death penalty - by crucifixion.

However, after his trial - but before being taken to Pilate - Jesus (bound) was lowered into an empty cistern (well) in Caiaphas' home. Imprisoned there, alone, in the dark - he was held without food, water, or comfort until the morning.

A church has been built over the ruins of the High Priest's home in Jerusalem - the very stone steps up which Jesus walked are still present - and the opening to the well down which Jesus was lowered is enshrined and an access has been constructed to allow pilgrims to climb down to the bottom. The well is called The Pit.

Listen . . . Jesus was thrown into a pit.

If HE was . . . then you might find yourself in one or two yourself.

There is a way out of The Pit . . . there is light in the Dark.

Instructions for the way out . . . and light . . . usually come from someone who has been there and is willing to share.

Here's my part . . . I hope some of it helps.
